Family martial arts

How should a family prepare for a first martial arts class?

Prepare as two beginners sharing a class, not as a parent supervising a child. Agree one small goal each, tell the Kitsune team if your experience or confidence differs, follow the coach rather than correcting one another, and use the free week to judge whether both of you feel able to learn and return.

Kitsune Cubs or Kitsune Kids for a 7-year-old?

A seven-year-old fits the published age band for both Kitsune Cubs and Kitsune Kids, so age alone does not choose the class. Compare the class focus, your child's experience of group activities and which environment helps them understand, participate and want to return; then ask the team to confirm the current starting route.

Is my 4-year-old ready for martial arts in Kidderminster?

A four-year-old may be ready to try martial arts if the class is designed for their age and they can join a short group activity with support, follow a simple instruction some of the time, communicate when they need help and show interest in returning. These are clues, not a pass-or-fail test; the class environment matters as much as the child.

Youth Thai Boxing

What should parents ask before a Youth Thai Boxing class?

Before a first Youth Thai Boxing class, ask what a beginner will do, how partner work and controlled sparring apply, what kit is needed, who handles welfare concerns, and how to share medical or emergency information. Kitsune publishes the age band and class components, but parents should confirm the current operational details before travelling.

Thai Boxing or kickboxing for beginners: which should you choose?

Choose Kitsune Thai Boxing if you want to focus on Muay Thai through pad work, bag work, partner drills and technique. Choose Adult Kickboxing if you prefer a broader curriculum that also includes boxing, grappling and practical self-defence. Both welcome beginners; the better fit is the class you want to keep learning in.

Kitsune Kids or Youth Thai Boxing: which class should you choose?

For children aged 7–12, choose Kitsune Kids for a broad mix of kickboxing, boxing, grappling and self-defence. Choose Youth Thai Boxing for a more focused striking programme built around pads, bags, partner drills and technique. Neither is automatically better; the best fit depends on what your child wants to learn.
